Consecrate– to set yourself apart; full devotion
Joshua- (14th Century B.C.- 1405 B.C.)
- History book of the Israelites, a people without a nation
- Moses had led the Israelites out of Egyptian captivity
- Joshua had been Moses’ faithful assistant and will take the leadership baton and later write this historical account
Joshua 1- Transition of Leadership
Joshua 3- Transformation of Lives
Scripture text is in two parts:
Our Part: Be ALL IN
3:5- “CONSECRATE yourselves…”
Why should we do this?
We are naturally SELFISH.
We are naturally SINFUL.
We are supernaturally TRANSFORMED!
How do we do this?
It’s more than a sinner’s prayer; it’s a surrendered life!
Jesus becomes your FORGIVER and LIFE LEADER!
Jesus said in Luke 9:23-
If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
Jesus said in Luke 14:33-
In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.
Paul said in Romans 12:1-
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God- this is your spiritual act of worship.
1 Timothy 4:5-6…consecrated by the Word of God and prayer
The real question is, “WHO’S ON FIRST?”
Who, decides where you go.
Who, decides what you do.
Who, decides what you say.
Two strategies to keep you from being ALL IN-
- Sinful things to trip us up and turn us away from God.
- Good things to distract us and get in between us and God.
God’s Part: Go ALL OUT
3:5- “…for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”
Amazing– causing great surprise or wonder
Why can God do AMAZING things?
He is Omnipotent!
He is Omniscient!
He is Omnipresent!
Advice for the journey-
You, be ALL IN;
God, goes ALL OUT!
When we go ALL IN with God, He goes ALL OUT for us!
